I’m not sure why it took The Deer in the Shires so long to connect with White Doe Farm ha ha, but it finally happened!  You meet so many wonderful people on instagram, and I recently had the opportunity to connect with the beautiful White Doe Farm, just a short jaunt up the road for me in Rupert, Vermont.  I had definitely driven by the White Doe Farm before, the charming signage and bucolic 10 acre property is definitely a “hey honey slow down!” kind of spot, but this time I actually got to spend the night at the farm and enjoy all of the beauty and Colonial charm.

So first, let’s talk weddings!  Imagine getting married in a beautiful barn in Vermont!  Not only does White Doe Farm offer a stunningly appointed 4 bedroom farmhouse where the wedding party could stay, they now have a wedding barn, perfect for small (under 60 person) weddings and events.  You can learn more about the White Doe Farm Vermont wedding venue here.

This is such a great space, there’s a huge room upstairs for dining and dancing, and a downstairs bar and sitting area.  White Doe Farm can assist you with sourcing vendors, and help you with as much or as little planning as you need.  There is also 10 acres of beautiful farmland behind the barn, imagine saying your vows as the sun sets over the gorgeous Greens, then retiring to the rustic chic barn to dance the night away (or quietly converse, as the case may be!).

The thing I loved most about this space is that you would’t need a ton of decor, the raw wood and beautiful architecture really sets the stage, I envision farm tables and simple wildflower bouquets, but you could dress it up as much as you wanted as well.  I was happy to test out the bar for you!

The best thing about White Doe Farm for weddings though is the absolutely gorgeous farmhouse just steps from the barn venue.  We were lucky enough to get to spend a night in this beautifully appointed space, and let me just say, it is beyond impressive.

I was there on a cold and snowy evening, which was the perfect setting for this cozy warm Colonial space.  The farm is on a main road so you could comfortably stay here year ’round since Vermont does a great job with plowing and sanding the roads, I don’t think you would have any problem at all.  It’s also close to Stratton, Bromley and Magic Mountain ski resorts, so it’s the perfect base for a ski trip – you’d have the “lodge” all to yourself!

The farmhouse has been completely renovated.  The stunning original floors are refinished to keep the historic charm, but it has every modern comfort.  Tons of windows let in lovely light and keep you warm on a sunny day.  There are two large living spaces downstairs as well as a dining room and full kitchen with close to commercial-grade appliances.  I’ve stayed in some farmhouses here in Vermont that are charming but lack the amenities that you would want to host a wedding party, you will have no such issue at White Doe Farm.

Check your shoes at the door (and enjoy these cozy, complimentary slippers), nestle down and get romantic!  Smart TVs, rainfall shower, super comfy foam mattresses, solid wifi and a fully appointed kitchen await you!

If you love to cook, you are in luck!  Full sets of dishes, spices, high-grade utensils and appliances await you.  I enjoyed the farmhouse with just my husband, but this is an absolutely perfect spot for a family or friends gathering, I’m actually hoping to convince my girlfriends from the South to come up and stay, it would be so much fun to cook a big meal here (although the delicious restaurants of Dorset and Manchester are literally minutes away too!).

This living room is a Colonial dream come true!  I am a huge fan of black walls, this space is absolutely magazine-worthy.  And so many homey touches, books, games, a fireplace, tons of comfy seating, trust me, if you are looking for the Vermont experience, this is the spot.  And so chic, right?!

Up the (deer-patterned!!!) stairs there are 3 more bedrooms (there are 4 in total) where you will surely fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow!  Super soft feather pillows, foam mattresses, cozy flannel sheets and true peace and quiet await you.  Spend your days checking out all of the natural beauty Vermont has to offer right outside the doorstep and then relax and enjoy a restful night in the farmhouse.

I woke up to the most gorgeous snowy sunrise and I felt like I was back in the 1800s!  It’s so cool to think of all of the Vermonters who have lived in this farmhouse over the years, it is truly historic.  And once you’re all rested up again, there’s plenty to enjoy outside too!

It was one of the coldest and blusteriest days of the year, but that didn’t stop me from putting on my snow boots and venturing out!  A gazebo, fire pit, generous Adirondack chair seating and 10 beautiful mountain acres make for the perfect outdoor entertaining space!  Whether you’re having a small family gathering or a larger wedding or event, when you’re in Vermont, you want to be outside!  And White Doe Farm has everything you need for outdoor picnics, enjoying cocktails by the fire pit, or imagine saying your vows under a blanket of crystalline stars!
